newbie - asking for some basic info

Postby kicsrules » Fri Oct 09, 2015 4:41 pm

hello, im interested in upgrading a 2tb cloudbox, but i have some questions (the cloudbox is working fine)

1.- does the software fvdw-sl-console makes backups of the current cloudbox firmware ?

2.- if it does, can it restore the original fw to the box with another hdd (bigger drive)?

3.- if 1 and 2 are yes, what is the maximum hdd size it can handle ?

4.- does the fvdw-sl-16-1 firmware for lacie cloudbox (white casing) offer the same features than the original ? (mynas.lacie.com feature, download machine, ftp.. etc)

i want to update the box in a near future... and i´m looking into this option (this fw)..

thnx in advance

Answers
Question 1 and 2 : no

Question 4: fvdw-sl offers much more features then lacie firmware. Have a look in announcement forum. Some specific lacie features like my lacie nas of course not

the bootloader of the cloudbox supports GPT partition tables so also the hard disks bigger then 2 TB are possible to use.

The installation includes making a new partition table on the disk so all data is lost
