Hello, I have registered a few days ago because I was looking for an alternative firmware for my cloudbox. Initially I bought the cloudbox to be accessible remotely. But because the original firmware is chubby and slow (personally i don't like it anyway).
So I tried to install the firmware, but as far as I have understood, I have to start the cloudbox with the standalone kernel. But It stays at the "waiting for U-BOOT" screen and never goes past it. I did try to follow the instructions that were written and turned my nas off and then at the "waiting for U-BOOT" on again. But nothing happens.
Is there somewere a step by step instruction on how to install the firmware on a stock cloudbox?
Additional info:
My system is Windows 8.1,
and my nas is a "STOCK" Lacie cloudbox 4TB.

how are your PC and nas connected to the LAN ?
Do not use a wireless connection, and allow that your firewall allows that the programs used by fvdw-sl console may pass the firewall (or temperorarily disable the firewall)

Ahh right my setup is a a mikrotik router between the PC and the cloudbox. ALL connected via lan.
If needed I can also connect the cloudbox directly to the computer because i have an additional lan interface on my pc.
And my windows firewall is off.

There is no need to to remove the router.
If the firewall is off then the console u-boot console should detect your cloudbox when it is on the same LAN unless you have a specific subset mask set on your router limiting the ip addresses that can be contacted. Check if the router is set up with subset mask 255.255.255.0
Also turn off the cloudbox before opening starting the action to load the standalone kernel and switch it on only when it mentions waiting for u-boot

is difficult to change your settings to use something like 192.168.1.x ?
With that setting it is know to work ok.
(Although in principle it should also work with 10.10.10.x )

That would be a bit difficult because I have a bunch of settings I would need to change In order to make it possible. Espechially my firewall settings are quite a bit extensive and i would need to change every single entry for the network to be able to work properly. I do have a Couple of servers one of which is a virtual machine here.
Perhaps you know mikrotik routers? Maybes I will need to forward a couple of ports from my pc to my cloudbox.
But for that I need to know which ports or at least which protocols are needed to be forwarded.I know of telnet ssh and ftp, are there any others I need?
