Installed latest firmware and bricked my Cloudbox

Installed latest firmware and bricked my Cloudbox

Postby dmiyabara » Thu Jul 09, 2015 12:10 am

Hi,

I have installed the firmware (CloudBox 2.6.10.2) using the auto update from the dashboard, but after that, my Cloudbox just blink blue light every 2 seconds and doesn't appear anymore on my network (don't even get an IP address).

I've tried to reinstall using the LNA (Recovery Mode), using the file (CloudBox_2.6.10.2.capsule). But after loading i receive a message in the command prompt (ERROR: The process "LCtftpd.exe" not found) then closes and in the first attempt find the Cloudbox, but after a few minutes it doesn't find it anymore.

What should I do to repair this firmware, is there other ways to insert just the correct firmware instead of using the LNA.

thanks,
Dalton

Hi dmiyabara,

As it is an issue with the Lacie firmware, I advise you to ask help on this forum http://forum.nas-central.org/viewforum.php?f=277.

But may be it will be required to get a telnet access with your broken NAS and so use the fvdw-sl console will be useful. (works only with Microsoft OS)
See: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2224

Note: to get a telnet access you just need to upload the standalone kernel

Hi Jocko,

you mean the standalone kernel is the this file: CloudBox_2.6.10.2.capsule. And if it's right, in which folder should I upload the file?

No dmiyabara, fvdw-sl console allows to load a kernel version (compiled by fvdw) on the RAM and to get a root access via telnet. It is not a Lacie feature. Then you can deepen what it is wrong with the Lacie firmware.

We use our own firmware and so we can not provide expert advice about Lacie firmware except for standard issues. It is why you should post on the other site for helping.

fvdw-sl console will be just a tool

The standalone kernel version is included in the rar files (kirkwood version)

Thanks Jocko, I've posted in NAS-Central Forum and will wait for help. 2 years ago, i went in something similiar with my Lacie Cloudbox, and could recover it using the LNA software. But now, I couldn't repair anything. Next time I will remember an old saying " on ateam that is winning, you should not change", or something like this, because in Portuguese it makes some sense, lol.

But thanks for your pacience and support.
