Hey,

I installed the "fvdw-sl-15-2" firmware on my Lacie Cloudbox (3Tb). It works great, kudos for making this awesome piece. For one, I now have NFS, witch default firmware doesn't have... Anyway I see in the options Wake-On-LAN, since the drive itself makes ALLOT of noise. (well it is constantly spinning) I would like to know how this feature and if, it can be used with my device.

Its primary design is as NAS for a Raspberry Pi (running Openelec, with has some addon to install WOL support). Can anyone point me in the right direction how to use it ?

Also is it normal that this thing makes so much noise (I mean what is it doing, when nobody is accessing the drive)?

cheers,

Svenn

there is a spin down daemon , after 15 minutes of inactivity it will try to spin down the disk (you can even adapt the time in the disk menu)
Some applications might prevent spin down if they perform disk activity.

in WOL mode the disk must receive a magic packet to be brought back to live

Alright, I found the deamon settings, I put it to 5 minutes... Its still kinda loud compared to my 2TB "normal" disk. I guess its just lacie that is too damn loud.
I found WOL "settings", now I need to find the time to play with the settings on both sides of the connection (RPI<-> NAS)

Thx for your help fvdw!
