Web Explorer issues

Web Explorer issues

Postby vempire » Tue Feb 18, 2014 9:59 pm

Hi,

The web-explorer setup panel is broken and the 3 right tabs are suddenly empty. Also, I cannot disable the service nor ligin as admin. I can login with my user account but cannot configure it nor upload files.

Any suggestion?

Cheers,
Vitor

Fixed - better: was not a real problem!

The fvdw will web frontend will not work properly with Chrome!

The missing menu items appear using Internet Explorer and FireFox. This can be caused by my severe security settings for Chrome, though, i.e. no Java and Cookies enabled.

After fiddling around with the Web Explorer, here a few insights:

1) The Upload functionality requires the Admin login. I find this a bit strange, but the fvwd firmware is not to blame: it was simply designed to work like this. Also, you need to have Sun Java installed, plus you have to configure Java (Java, not the browser!) to allow execution of this plugin, which is considered by Java to be a unsecure.

2) Chrome did not work properly with the fvwd configuration panel for Web-Explorer: only the first tab is shown, the other 3 remain blank. Also, changes are not stored. I don't know if this is due to some obscure Chrome configuration. Internet Explorer and FireFox work fine.

3) Multimedia Player: this drove me crazy. Why? Because it took a while until I discovered somewhere in the help file, that only *.mp3 and *.flv formats are supported! Then it did work fine and out of the box with Internet Explorer.

Hi vempire,

Indeed, there is something wrong in this menu when you use Chrome.

About jupload and admin account.
By default, with the admin account you can upload everywhere. For the other accounts you must set what folder (and its subfolder) can be used to upload files (use the menu [Module Settings] in the top bar of the upload page when you are login as administrator)

But I found another bug with the jupload applet. If you use the https protocole, jupload loading fails.
Now with the last java version (7.xx), an additional directive is required in the Apache settings. (without this directive, any applet fails to load with our server).

So need to do a patch

Otherwise,
Also, you need to have Sun Java installed, plus you have to configure Java (Java, not the browser!) to allow execution of this plugin, which is considered by Java to be a unsecure.
jupload applet is free and an open source. So the developers can not sign it with a valid certificate which requires data that the developers don't have (and also you must pay for this). As it's an open source you can be pretty sure the applet code didn't write by lazy men...

Attached a fix to solve :
- web-explorer menu bug with Chrome
- missing directive in apache server

So could you test it (same way to install it than the previous fix)
Note: in chrome you must delete the cache after installing and if https server is enabled you must restart the nas to update the current apache settings (or disable/enable again the https server)
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Hi,

I confirm that the patch is working! And yes, you really need to go to Chrome settings and delete the cache, otherwise it will not work (this is for other users to not waste time like me with refresh/restart of Chrome).

jupload applet is free and an open source. So the developers can not sign it with a valid certificate which requires data that the developers don't have (and also you must pay for this). As it's an open source you can be pretty sure the applet code didn't write by lazy men...

I was in no way critizing the plugin! All this work is amazing as it is!!! I just wanted to put it on writing, so that other users know what needs to be done for it to work.

Thanks for the patch!
