Simple basic help on Telnet

Simple basic help on Telnet

Postby myo38 » Wed Jul 20, 2022 3:26 pm

Hello,

I'm trying to install the fvdw-sl solution on a LaCie CloudBox.

At step 7 it's required to connect thru Telnet.

Who could tell me which answers/options I should use to do the connection.

On the DTelnet windows I tried 'Connect Remote Systems' and within the sub-windows 'Connect' which values sould I pick ?

Thank you
Michel

The telnet client should connect automatic
You only should hit enter and enter username: root and password: giveit2me

Read the help text of the fvdwsl console in which all is described in detail (help button in the menu bar of the console). ;)

Thanks fvdw for your reply.

I got further in the process.

What I discovered is that I used the wrong image. I had to use the 'kirkwood' image; and so, it works better.
It seems that the transfer process runs well.
I get the login windows and enter root and giveit2me values.
But then i get a line "root@fvdw-sta-kirkwood:/ #" and nothing happens.

If i unplug the hard disk from the LaCie box, and mount it on a standard USB case, it says that the device is empty. Is it normal ?

Michel.

Thats the expected behaviour. At that prompt you have to enter a command (fvdw-sl-programs)

This will upload a script that will be started automatically, a menu will appear, select "install fvdw-sl firmware"

All this is written in the help files and also in the main window of the fvdw-sl console :tapfoot

Thanks fvdw for your precious help.

My LaCie Cloudbox is now up and running : I can get access to it through its web interface.

Thanks again,
Michel
