Cloudbox 3TB, new disk install failure

Postby ratteken » Tue Feb 22, 2022 2:59 pm

Hi all

My Cloudbox 3TB disk became defective a while ago. I discovered this site and am trying to install a new disk and make some testings with this great NAS firmware. I have a spare 500 GB Samsung SATA disk and am trying to make it work but all in vain untill now. My setup: A laptop, connected with a network cable to an old Linksys DSL router, not connected to the internet, only the Lacie NAS (when asked during installation) and the laptop are connected. Windows firewall and Defender are OFF.
When starting the FVDW-SL console 6, I see an IP address for the NAS: 192.168.1.252 and for my PC: 192.168.1.100.
I try to install fvdw-sl firmware, receive the message that Tftpd32 is already running, I load the UIMAGE-3142-KIRKWOOD-171-standalone file, receive the message waiting for u-boot, I power up the NAS, it first shows a black screen with the u-boot 1.1.4 version and Marvell version 3.6.0 Lacie 2.1.3 are shown. Than it looks like it is trying to load the image, it shows only one " * ", after that "T T" and 2 seconds later it jumps to Telnet. But Telnet gives me an error: Connection to 192.168.1.252/Telnet Timed out and everything is stuck and Telnet is offline ...
Can you please advise me ?

Thanks !

Best regards
Al

Hi

Did you check you have only one Network Interface available on your laptop : the others must be disabled (virtual or physical iface) ?

Hi Jocko, thanks for your reply !

I've done that now, to be sure I installed another spare disk (2.5" 320GB) and it looks fine now !
It also seems Windows Firewalling was messing up while uploading firmware ... It looked like it was disabled, but it wasn't completely apparently.
Perhaps a good thing to know for other users when they get the same problems.

Thanks for your help, I'll try to install another disk now.

Keep up the good work !

Best regards

Al
