no wireshark trafic for cloudbox: how to find IP address

Postby vinbrick » Fri May 10, 2019 10:35 pm

Hi,

I have a Cloudbox that stopped working some weeks ago. Until last week, I could still access the web interface (which indicated that the cloudbox was starting). I could clearly see a packet being sent in Wireshark whenever I plugged in a network cable. Last week I removed the original disk and replaced it with an empty one. But now I don't see any packets anymore in wireshark when I plug in the cable.
I tried sniffing with wireshark in Windows 10, and this evening I also tried on Ubuntu, but not a single packet is being sent.

I tried the FVDW-sl console 6, but if I don't know any IP address to connect to this is gonna be impossible?

Is it normal that the cloudbox does not send a single packet anymore when connecting a (cross-over) cable to it?
The leds of the ethernet port are blinking if I plug in the cable.

A new disk without firmware will not bring your cloudbox online, you will need to install firmware. Fvdw-sl console is a tool that can be used for that. No need to fill in a ip address for the nas. It will get one automaticaly.
In case the telnet client of the console doesn't connect read the remarks here http://plugout.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2645

Hi,

I tried with the FVDW-SL console 6 and managed to get some success:

1)I chose "install fvdw-sl firmware"
2)I chose "UIMAGE-3142-KIRKWOOD-158-standalone"
3)All seemd to have gone well, I ended up on the screen: "Installation completed. Reboot NAS by giving command reboot -f"
4)after giving the command "reboot -f" I coud hear the NAS reboot

But I can't access it through http://192.168.1.252 (the address I used in the console);
It doesn't reply to ping;
I still can't detect it with the console assistant.

Am I forgetting something?

It will get a dynamic assigned IP from your dhcp server in your LAN. So 192.168.1.252 is not the right ip address to use after installation. Use an ip scanner to find its ip or use fvdw-sl assistant to svan your lan for the nas. Also the web interface of your router may tell the ip address of the cloudbox

I got it working , thanks :)

I had tried an ip scanner but it did not see the nas (it saw it when I scanned for port 80 though); I found the address in my router list as you suggested.
Thanks!
