Repace MLDonkey by aMule?

Repace MLDonkey by aMule?

Postby Cubytus » Thu Nov 02, 2017 8:23 am

Hi there,

from time to time I need to find some rare file that only survives on the eDonkey network. Problem is, the current MLDonkey is as user-unfriendly as possible. Hard to configure, many permissions to be hand-corrected, unintuitive interface, etc.

Especially for the ones coming from the eMule client on Windows, this can be pretty disconcerting.

Would it be feasible to replace MLDonkey by aMule, given the lower power of the CPU?

Hi Cubytus,

See this topic : viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1055&p=25812#p25812

Install sancho on your laptop and you will get a more intuitive interface

Sure, but wouldn't it be better to have some consistency with Transmission? Both with clean, usable, Web interfaces?

Is there any technical reason not to include aMule as en eDonkey downloader?

Only with eDonkey and Kademlia network connected, passively sharing a few files, it already takes between 30 and 70% CPU, sounds like a lot

Yes, we go to deepen this as previously posted.

I found the source files and need to compile them with the option to get amuleweb feature (so a similar behaviour as mlnet).
But I think we can also reuse the QNAP packages after exploding them ;)

Note: mlnet supports basically Direct connect which allows to download files very fastly

Does QNAP provide an ARM package that is compatible with fvdw?

As for DC, I recall this network required a HUGE number of shared GBs, in the order of half a TB to a full TB, back when a "big" hard drive was about 80GB. The reason why I never used it. Does the network hosts "rare" content as eDonkey does?
