root password in web console

root password in web console

Postby ryandkg » Sat Feb 20, 2016 8:32 pm

I was exploring the web console and after logging in with the default password of "giveit2me" I attempted to change the root password.

The password routine did not wait for any responses from the keyboard. Instead each prompt was immediately answered by the system and the routine exited indicating that the password had been change even though I had not entered any input.

When I attempted to access the web console again, I got the message "wrong password try again" whether I entered the default password or no password at all.

Is there any way to reset that password?

the default password of the the web interface is "admin"
The default "giveit2me" refers to access via ssh server (which is not the same as for the web interface)

So it is not clear to me what you excatly did

the password for the web interface is set in System Management ->firmware interface

The password for ssh access is set via ssh server menu

I was using the web console command line to try to change the ssh server password.

I was able to set the ssh password on SSH Access > Setup menu page and now have access to the console again in SSH Access > Web Console.

Thanks.
