Lacie CloudBox - how to recover original firmware

Lacie CloudBox - how to recover original firmware

Postby vempire » Mon Feb 17, 2014 12:41 am

Hi,

I bought the Lacie CloudBox and I am not happy with it, to the point of considering returning it back to the shop.

What disappoints me is that despite the advertizing, it will not support SRT files when streaming movies. I tried rooting it, activating the Twonky setup page and even installing packages. However, make would just produce a Segmentation Fault when executed, so I was unable to compile miniDLNA.

I came to this forum and I am pretty interested in fvdw, however I don't want to loose the original firmware, in case I don't like it. I want to be able to restore the drive so that I can return it, if required.

I read the instructions and the installer will make a backup of the original disk, but I would like to know how to rewrite this backup to the harddisk and how to flash back the original firmware? Has anyone managed to do so?

Thanks,
vma

the installer will not be able to make a backup of the cloudbox partitions as they are too big. I believe in the cloudbox topics it is described how to make a backup of the original partitions.

To restore them the opposite procedure could be used.

it can be found here viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1547&start=20#p11749 and pages that follows that post
