PPTP VPN server port forwarding

When configuring PPTP Server:
What ports do I need to forward on my home router, so that I can open VPN tunnel from outside my home?
I tried TCP/1723 and that doesn't seem to work.
I read that PPTP usually also uses port 47 ("Other" transport protocol) but home routers don't typically support anything other than TCP or UDP.
P.S.: any plans to release new official firmware version, containing the patches you kindly provided some months ago?
