fvdw-sl Install Reports Successful But Is Not

After attempting to install the fvdw-sl firmware using the fvdw-sl console 6-0 with 18-1 firmware installer and image writer it completes displaying a message saying, "Installation completed. Reboot NAS by giving command reboot -f. However, after rebooting the factory firmware is still there. The NAS is a Lacie 2big Network 2.

you probably have two disk inside one in the most lefthand slot (seen from the back) with fvdw-sl firmware as installed and one lacie original disk in righthand slot.
(I assume you followed the instruction to put during installing fvdw-sl only 1 disk in your 2big2 and in the lefhand slot seen from the back, if not repeat and notice remark ps1 below)
Remove that second disk in righthand slot and boot, the fvdw-sl firmware should come up.
PS1. The original lacie disk in righthand slot contains lacie firmware and is loaded by the bootlaoder. To avoid that remove all partitions on the disk in righthand side slot before inserting it
