When I want to transfer files to the NAS, it won't accept filenames with umlauts or spanish cedillas. How do I change this?

I can copy all filenames with Umlaute and ßß by using my FTP program (FlashFXP).

With french chars I do not have such issue. :scratch

What server do you use to transfer file ? If you use FTP server, you need to check if your ftp client detects automatically uft-8 encoding. If not you need to set it manually in your connection settings

thanks very much for your answers..I've used a linux machine running Kubuntu, and there have used the filemanager Krusader (as root) to transfer from a Qnap NAS to the 2big2.
Another problem was that it timed out after about 3 Gb...maybe this is a problem with the software?

Usually the ftp servers uses several time out options to handle events like command exchanges; connect actions and transfer. So maybe an option to be changed on filemanager krusader side
