hello there, i just want to know if there is any data removal on current disk after patching/upgrading?
and, as i read correctly, i can safely upgrade my lacie to new version within web interface (fvdv..). j have now 15 version so i assume it is safe?

When upgrading from older to newer fvdw-sl version no data in shared folders is lost. Also settings made in the webinterface like user names are kept except one which is the ssh server password, that is reset to the default value. This is done by purpose. Users that forgot the ssh server password can regain access by installing the firmware again

Contrary to Lacie firmware, on fvdw-sl data partition is used only to store users data...So upgrade process can not delete them

well, i am not really that sure...i started with upgrading and in telnet windows there is a question if that script delete all the data and partitions on disk? hell no, i still didn't copied all the files :(
so, does the upgrade DELETES the data on disk or not?????

i just don't want to loose something here guys...really :scratch :scratch :scratch

Hi ngc2392,

STOP ALL YOUR ACTIONS...

You misunderstand how to update the firmware. It seems you use fvdw-sl console to update the firmware and it is wrong. fvdw-sl console must be use only for a first installation. After you have to use the firmware upgrade menu available from the fvdw-sl web-interface.

damn...but that was allready final step since upgrading within web interface was, well...i cant upgrade. it says something about wrong file or smth. ah, now i must bring back nas itself...
why oh why i went to this path :)
(if it works, don't touch it!)

hm, i guess i lost files... :doh :doh :doh
nas can't be found on network (interface), that assistant does see it but it states address, mac address and firmware.
so, what CAN i do from here to restore previous state...is it doable???

Well,

I need more information :
- what action did you select on fvdw-sl console
- did you set a RAID 1 on your 2big2 ?

if you have a RAID1 then we will be able to restore your data and in the other case only data on the 2d disk may be restored

like i said...i stoped there where it asks for a permision to delete everything (telnet window). after you said stop all actions i closed all windows of fvdw program.
i have no raid since v15 does not have option for that.
if i take disk out and plug it in as usb drive will i be able to read data on it? or is it hidden/different file format/smth else?
