Time to SPEED-UP upload rate

Hi masters!!

I think its just time to develop a turnaround to SPEEDUP the upload speed. (inside a local network, like a gigabit network).
Actually my up speed is an avarage of 12Mb/s and download speed is an avarage of 35Mb/s.
It need too much time to transfer a file from my pc to my nas... 3 mt distant from me and plug with CAT6 cable with a gigabit switch :disapprove

Have you an idea to imrove up speed? is this a island already discovered?

If you use samba-4 than you will get a better speed then with samba-3. Also copying small files takes more time because of extra io caused by writing file headers.
But the real limiting factor on a 5big2 is cpu speed (1200 Mhz) and speed of ram (400 MHz). Max speed when using big files (files of a few hundred MB or bigger)you can achieve around 30 MB/s. With small files (photos) it will be much lower. There is no way to increase it, for that you need a nas with faster cpu and ram ;)

1 nas give me that error: __FILE__, hwclock -w -u, err= 1
1 nas instead have no samba 4 option as you see in the attachment. "Use samba version ()"

Hi

About hwclock message, I am sorry but I think the hardware clock is broken on this nas. More detail here (and also how to remove the warning) :https://plugout.net/viewtopic.php?f=26&p=31341#p31341

about the missing samba4 version, that would mean your nas does not have internet access (it gets samba4 version by downloading a file from our site like the other add-on package) and you do not yet install the last roll-up patch for version 18.2 :whistle

So you have first to install the roll-up patch (patch03) and check internet access.
After you may try to install samba 4 by selecting the option "Use samba version ()" (and of course do a submitting) if samba version is still missing

@jocko ok, i did this:

usin putty, i send the command
Code: Select all
sed -rie  's#(.*, hwclock)#//\1#g' /usr/htdocs/global/system_DateTime.xml
to my 2 nas. then i did reboot them.
Now, i access in setting/samba server/ and see the option for samba 4 in all 2 nas, but when i check the radio button and then click accept, the radio button return empty and native samba version radio button return filled...

what is the meaning? my 2 machine cannot set to samba 4?

I'm lost with your messages.

So can you post :
- from fvdw-sl assistant do you see your nas ?
- did you install patch03 ?
- currently can you login to the fw web-interface ?

This may happen if you have changed some user permissions. But a reboot should restore them

So if you have a shell access, can you post,
Code: Select all
ls -al /tmp/
ls -al /etc/patch_log
plugout check
echo $?
