Good morning everyone, I found a Lacie 5 big network 2 in my company. The problem is that it has no system, I tried to recover it with the Lacie Network Assistant but it does not work. I have seen that you retrieve it manually, you could send me the necessary files to try

Would it not be easier to install our alternative firmware?

For installing lacie firmware the information is avaible in related topics.

As this question pops up regular I will see if we can put the info in one new topic to make search easier for those that want to use the lacie firmwate. It might take some time to do that as ee are busy with release of new version of our firmware

Okay, I agree, if its okay with you, we could try your alternative.
If it did not work I would wait until you had time for the original firmware.

Can you tell me the thread where to find the steps and files needed to test with your alternative software?

Thank you very very much,
Best regards

Hi Victor,

First you need to install fvdw-sl console on your Windows laptop
(see the topic: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1271)

With the package fvdw-sl version 6.0, you will find an help for installing fvdw-sl. Read it twice (at least)

So you will understand fvdw-sl installs the firmware on the first left disk (if you see the back side)

After you need to initialize the other disks. You can
- either follow the old way described in the howto "Add additonal disks instruction 5big2 2big2 nwsp2max 2big1 5big1-04oct15"
- or after rebooting the nas with only one disk (first left disk), install the last fvdw-sl version (fvdw-sl 17.0) and then after rebooting with all disks, use the web-interface to initialize the other disks (from its disk setup menu)

Hi friend,

I downloaded and executed the console, but I do not know what the next step would be. Is there any thread that is detailed step by step?
I think the problem is that the nas does not recive IP from the DHCP server.

Thanks in advance for your time and help

Hi victor,

So no need to post the link toward this topic ;)

Maybe you did not note the attached help file "install_fvdw_sl_firmware_hlp.zip" on the topic "fvdw-sl-console 6-0 + 17-0 firmware. Install via ms windows"

As you can see, we have updated this package and you will install directly version 17.0

Sorry, I had not seen the instructions, now I have started to follow them and everything goes well until the client telnet starts and shows: Connection to 192.168.4.252/telnet timed out. Why can this be happening?

Should I change any of the connection parameters? In the DTelnet in the top menu Connect -> Remote System

I have tried changing from telnet to login and putting root in the username but it does not work

-- Edit --
Or maybe I have the wrong path of Folder used by TFPTP server because just to the right it appears: Starting server failed.
I have the following path: \fvdw-sl-console-6-17-0-5jun2017-32bits\tftp

-- 2nd edit --
I tried to open the assistant to see if it found the nas, with the automatic scanning finds nothing and with the manual within the range that should be, nor find it

Thanks you for ur help!
Best regards

No there is no need to change anything in the default settings.

Which kernel did you select ?

If you want to install firmware you must select the kirkwood standalone kernel.

Also here some tips if telnet client times out: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2645

I think I've selected a kernel that is not the standalone kernel.
File name: UIMAGE-3142-5BIG1-11

In the files I have downloaded I have not seen any kernel standalone, I will take a tour around the forum to see if I find it

--Edit--
I found all the kernel by downloading the console from this post http://plugout.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2691

--2nd Edit--
Now im using this file: UIMAGE-26394-5BIG1-45-standalone
With this kernel the console does more things, but the Tfpd32 by Ph. Jounin I think it does not send the file, because it is 0% and suddenly the file disappears.
I have disabled all network adapters except LAN
