Problem with 5Big Lacie Network 2

Hi hope you can help

We have the above NAS 10tb ,the admin password was lost so we reset it (which apparently keeps the data).
Unfortunately when it rebooted we cannot access the dashboard because of an error although Lacie Network Assistant detects the drive. It has an ip address and the dashboard starts to load.

I emailed Lacie and they returned the following

The error message:
"ASSERTION FAILED in class:com.lacie.communicationlayer.client.WelcomeRequestHomeAssociated message: 1 == objectFound.size()".

Is a source code (OS) Software corrupted error message.
The source code is not public accessible, the unit cannot be fixed; therefore it would be needed to replace the 5big NAS.

In my administration SN 14571212110232UMA out of warranty since Jan. 2016, therefore the system would not be eligible for an exchange under warranty.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

.

Any idea how old this 5big2 is? And which firmware version from lacie you were running? And were you using a raid configuration?

Not so fast. If it is indeed a corrupt firmware issue then maybe also here the last trick we discovered might work. Which is formatting the sdx9 raid array containing the last firmware upgrade and forcing the 5big2 to use the basic firmware on sdx7 and sdx8.

If it is the original firmware an no upgrades are done then sdx9 will be empty and the mentined procedure will not work. But why check?

This situation seems very similar to mine. And we successfully fixed.
Everything comes from a corrupt firmware, so I think that even @crampus8 can try this path.

If i remember you suggested to wipe and format sdx9, right?
It may therefore take inspiration from page 12 of my thread, entitled [SOLVED] After a firmware upgrade, blinking blue, lost 5Big2

Indeed this may work if there are only some firmware files corrupted or missing.

But before doing this drastic action, we can try to do another upgrade.
I checked Lacie source file and the trick to store an upgrade capsule in a folder 'Update' from the share "Share" should work if no upgrade process is already running. It is why this did not work on Glaven's NAS but on crampus8's NAS I think the ugrade process is ended

We could try to open a root access (by uploading the patched sshd.i file) and see if we can login in a shell window. Maybe there is more verbose data in /var/log
