Add DIsk to Lacie 5BigNetwork2

Hi all
I've just resurrected a 5TB Lacie 5BigNetwork2 using the "vmsosa" post method.
The unit start up fine and i can see 989 GB available with the single disk inserted.
Problems are when I try to insert other disks for expansion.
The process to expand the drive stops unexpedetly after a couple of minutes and the "beautiful" Lacie Interface suggest to exchange the newly inserted disk.

I suspect that the new disks must be formatted or prepared to be accepted, is it correct?

If so which is the right manner.

many Thanks

:dontknow as I don't use the lacie firmware I can not tell you. Does the manual of the 5big2 describe how to add a disk ? (see lacie web site)

This is the 5 TB Version (not the Diskless).
The manual say that you can swap disks only with a one provided by Lacie
I presume that they come pre formatted with a particular partition map.
Anyone has information about this?

Thanks a lot

you don't need special HDD, any sata harddisk will do, you only nee to set up the right partition structure and format some partitions.
If have a diskless 5big2 myself, but I use our firmware on it.
On our forum you can find an instruction to install the Lacie firmware on the 5big2
