So I wrote a small php script to restore these menus.

Unzip the attached file in your public share (I don't remember the share name that you use. So change it in the command line)

Open a putty window and give the command
Code: Select all
php -f /share/1000/public/restoremenu.php

That's all.

To check if all are ok go to the vpn or ssh menus. Now, they must be displayed.

Hello @Jocko @fvdw

How many time! :) I just want to thank you again for your great help. I'm using the Big5 every day.
So, thank you so much!

I'm wondering if may you have find in these years a way to unlock the transfer speed that for now is limited to only 11Mb/s...
have you any news?

Thank you for the compliments we are glad to hear that the firmware is doing well. :-D

About speed. Did you install 17-0? That has a kernel that improves reading speed significantly. Furthermore we introduced a feature to convert file from ext3 to ext4 which also increases reading and writing speed. In the development topic you can read more about it. Reported speeds are 40 MB/s to 60 MB for reading from nas and 20 to 30 MB/s for writing to nas for large files. Writing or reading many small files is slower.

Ps although the procedure has been tested with good results converting ext3 to ext4 is at own risk !

:scratch I don't remember what problem you had but I think it was more related to install the firmware then a problem with the hardware. As far as I know we never made a special 14-1 version

Need to talk to Jocko if upgrading from 14-1 to 17-0 can be done in one or more steps in your case.

Hi,

From version 10.1 up to version 16.1, there is no significant change on the upgrade script. So from version 14.1 you should be able to update the version directly to version 16.1.
After this first step, you must install its rollup patch and then update to version 17.0

If that is so, you should be able to update the firmware as the included kernel with the later versions uses the same patch about lacie disk kernel name.

Hi

Upgrade the firmware is easy :

- download on your laptop files for your platform 5big2 : viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2313
- unrar them to get a bin file
- from the lacie firmware upgrade menu upload the bin file
Note: if you try only one time we should be able to come back. So do not make several attempts if you are issues

Next step install the rollup patch after rebooting the NAS : viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2677
