You must wait for fvdw.

Seem the fvdwsl disk is still set as the sdb disk by the kernel (physically is the sda disk)

I am at work now so not too much time

You loaded the 102 kernel
Code: Select all
Starting kernel ...

Linux version 2.6.39.4 (root@fvdwsl-nwsp2.local) (gcc version 4.5.4 (GCC) ) #102
 PREEMPT Thu May 9 22:03:32 GMT+1 2013
CPU: Feroceon 88FR131 [56251311] revision 1 (ARMv5TE), cr=00053177
CPU: VIVT data cache, VIVT instruction cache

Of course that doesn't work correctly. It is my fault because I gave wrong instruction. You did not write yet the kernel to partition 6 of the fvdw-sl disk

Do the following use the load external kernel option and choose kernel 106
Be sure fvdw-sl disk is in slot 1 and Lacie disk in slot 2.

We will not get console output but if it boots and the fvdw-sl webinterface comes up and putty works then we know that the kernel adaptations were ok

yes, i know that you are at work, don't worry, no hurry :) i'm at work too, but i'm in the office, i've more time for read and write.

I try your instruction.

- load and start external kernel 106.
- it is visible in the Network and in putty. It has boot correctly (i mean)
- so, what now? :)

I really, don't understand this:
To get the kernel on the test disk itself so it will be used at normal boot we will need to write it to sda6. To do this put the kernel file in the share public after the nas has succesfully boot
Connect with putty and give command
Code:
dd if=/share/1000/public/UIMAGE-26394-NWSP2CL-106 of=/dev/sda6

have I to Do this now??

PS. in the second slot there is the lacie HDD (you remember?) but when i went to the Nas home page in web interface, i can't see it. i only see the first 500gb Disk...
how can i put an empty or write HDD in the lacie for browse him in the explorer? :scratch

As now, the NAS is visible in the network and in putty. you can use the samba server.
First step : copy the kernel in the public share
Usually, the share 'public' is available via the link :
Code: Select all
\\fvdwsl-base\public
in an explorer window.
and copy the UIMAGE-26394-NWSP2CL-106 file in this share.

Second step : upgrade the kernel used by the NAS
Open a Putty window
maybe, is better to check if sda is really the fvdwsl disk
so use this command
Code: Select all
fdisk -l
in the output, check if the disk with 8 partitions (1 to 8) is sda
if yes
overwrite the kernel in sda6 by using this command
Code: Select all
dd if=/share/1000/public/UIMAGE-26394-NWSP2CL-106 of=/dev/sda6

NOTE : if you can't copy in the public share, maybe there is an issue with your workgroup name.
Only in this case go to the web-interface in the LAN setup menu.
And enter the workgroup name set with your PC

Currently, with version 14.0 you can see only the fvdwsl disk. So it's why you see only one disk in the web interface.

Fvdw and me we work to change this point (cf version 14.1). Many things are already done but one step is still to do (update the database according with the number of plugged disks).

I think one more tests has to be performed to validate the kernel :
Stop the NAS
Put in each slot a disk (keep the fvdwsl disk is the slot1)
Restart the NAS

if it's ok, open a putty window and run again a fdisk command or better a dmesg command

And thank to post the output
