think activating the fan control will be a little different, but it is not our first worry

http://forum.nas-central.org/viewtopic.php?f=240&t=3409

Think draftmancorp has to make up his mind how many disks he want to use. I assume he cannot continue using the company disk. So we need to prepare a new fvdw-sl disk. Not too complicated. But maybe good to prepare a fvdw-sl-14-1 beta image first and put that on the current disk to see if that works ok

Thank and :dry the fan control daemon is not running

About the spindown, this new code must fix the bug.

So unzip the file in the public share and in Putty make :
Code: Select all
cp -vi /share/1000/public/disksfunc_set_disk_timeout.inc /etc/finc

plz post the output

if ok, go to the disk setup menu and change agin the inactivity period and post again the output of
ps axf

- Seagate Barracuda 2Tb - Written
- Seagate Barracuda 2Tb - empty
- Seagate Barracuda 2Tb - empty
- Seagate Barracuda 2Tb - empty
- WD (if i remember) 1Tb - Written

so an empty disk to use like the fvdw disk IS here :) tomorrow if you want, we do this step.....and i return the HDD to the company....

First here :):

Code: Select all
root@fvdwsl-base:/ # cp -vi /share/1000/public/disksfunc_set_disk_timeout.finc /etc/finc
cp: overwrite `/etc/finc/disksfunc_set_disk_timeout.finc'? y
`/share/1000/public/disksfunc_set_disk_timeout.finc' -> `/etc/finc/disksfunc_set_disk_timeout.finc'
root@fvdwsl-base:/ #

Second Action and then the ps axf here:

Code: Select all
root@fvdwsl-base:/ # ps axf

This is a problem in Linux (would also have been in lacie firmware, ntfs is not well supported in Linux). Our firmware can handle ntfs disk but the writing speed will be slow + ntfs under Linux is always a risk.

A solution could be to copy the content of these disk to an empty one formatted in ext3

About spindown, it is not right.

In an other code there was an old bug...

So same sequence but with this command
Code: Select all
cp -vi /share/1000/public/fanctlfunc_get_disks_to_monitor.inc /etc/finc

bring at least an empty disk tomorrow to re-install the firmware, otherwise we will have to repeat all we do from now onwards

good night.. ;)

for the empty disk, i have no problem to format them in any format type is necessary.

but for the written disk.....wow...if i think, this would be a problem also for the emptu disks, sometime i need to bring the Disk or more disks and take it/them with me, i need that some my works are with me when I travel....and i connect the HDD with a Sata/USB Adapter to my Notebook or any Pc I need to connect with in the location I am......  if i format them for the Lacie, i can see them ONLY in the Lacie right?..... ....this will be suck.....oh gosh....
