Hi,

p means print the partition table. So currently you have no partition set on sdb.

The tuto says for a gpt partition:
gdisk /dev/sdb

The commands to be given are:

x
l
4096
m
n
8
5804032 (start sector)
(enter) (end sector)
8300
w
y
Then if you ask again a p after saving (y) you will see a new partition (8 <=> sdb8)

yes you need now to repeat this step on the disk sd[cde]. (But check before to see if they do not have some partitions aldready set. In this case, you need to delete before the partitions (command 'd' )

You can follow the raid tuto

Yes that is correct but you built a raid 1 with 4 devices.

This configuration must be used only if you have very very valuable data on your 5 big2 : they are cloned on 4 disks and keep readable with only 1 available disk !

Why did you not use a raid 5 ?

Note: as you have no data on your 5 big2, I advice you to build your raid5 directly with all disks sd[abcde]8
