Greetings all,
I have a NS2 with the latest Lacie firmware (2.2.8). A little frustrated by the limitations of the stock FW, it seems fvdw would be a great improvement. I have read the background info and have everything I need to install fvdw but before I do anything I just wanted to know : is it possible to revert to stock firmware ?
Can't seem to find any info on this...

Yes it is possible, if you backup (image) your hdd before installing the new firmware.
But I wonder, why would you want to do that? I mean to revert to original firmware.
Is nonsense. However you will lose guarantee of the NAS, because you'll unsealed.
So what was the point?

Well, say for example I wanted to sell this NAS.
Seems to me it would be much harder to sell it with an alternative firmware

that depends sebnup on which buyer you have in front of you. :-D I would buy it if it was offered cheap
Further I think the price of second had is not very interesting as the HDD inside has more value then they will offer you for the total.
But if you back up the original partitions and use the instructions available on the internet how to install the original firmware (for instance follow this
LINK it can be restored. s possible to re-install the original firmware. Another possibility is to prepare a new hDD and keep the original one.

Thanks for your answer.
I am still debating whether it's worth the hassle.. I have overcome the shortcomings of the stock firmware with my HTPC, so my NAS now only serves as a backup drive.
Are you seriuosly interested in buying it ? What's "cheap" ? :-D

The custom firmware would probably be a selling point. I mean, the stock Lacie firmware sucks balls. I am sooooo grateful to these guys for their work.
