fvdw-sl-12-0 update failed?

Postby hamcloak » Wed Apr 25, 2012 3:50 pm

Hi,

I just tried to update my Lacie Network Space 2 to the fvdw-sl-12-0 firmware, but (I think) something has gone wrong.
The Lacie was on fvdw-sl-11-0, i just the web updater to update it with 'xfvd-sl-12-0-nwsp2-20mar2012.bin'.
Everything appeared to be fine, but after the reboot just nothing happens. It was configured with an static IP address, but i can't reach this address anymore.
I tried connecting to some other IP's in my network but nothing works.
It boots up well, the blue LED is turned on, and stays on.
How can i reach my NS2 again?

Regards.

The settings are maintained so you should be able to reach your nwsp2 using this IP address
what does the blue led do during booting ? it should flicker for a when doing reading from the hard disk before becoming steady. The booting can take more then a minute.

It flashes slowly 2 times, then become steady and then flickers (as if reading from the HDD), before going to steady again.

I assume the flicker period is at least a minute. That means it boots and it should have an IP addres

Did you check if you can reach it with Putty ?

The flicker period is about 6 seconds..
I can't reach it via SSH either.

6 seconds it is too short. It may become steady for some time after 6 seconds but then continue to flicker while reading again. Total boot will take more then a minute

another question
after the booting stops can you then use the button on the back side ? I mean pressing it and holding it for 2 seconds and then releasing it should make it reboot again. Pressing and holding it for 5 seconds and then releasing it should switch it off. If that is the response then it means the nas is probably running normal and you only need to figure out the ip address

then its not completing boot procedure. :scratch
Did you modify yourself the main boot script (rcS) in /etc/init.d folder before doing the upgrade ?
Did you set the nwsp2 as specified in the how to guide with all the partions as mentioned (sda1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) ?
