Is there any possibility to make transfer of files and folders between two NWSP2 directly?
It is a large amount, about 400GB. :hammerhead

What I want is, I can give the copy command, then to stop the computer and copy to be made directly between the two NWSP2.
It is possible :?:

Thanks

Yes you can. In the the backup menu (sub menu of file share menu) you can add remote shares. When opening that option you can add any samba or NFS share from a server in you LAN, including another nwsp2.

ps I sent you a PM (personal message) on another issue, please have look at it

How does this work?

I called the two NAS, NWSP2A and NWSP2B.
I logged in NWSP2B
I created a "remote share" from NWSP2A.
Then, in the left part I selected the source folder (remote share on NWSP2A) and in the right part the destination folder on NWSP2B.
Then I clicked the "accept" and nothing happened.
"Current System Status: execution command, please wait..." . . . I am still waiting ..... :hammerhead
Where I wrong? :pound
Please HELP.

Thanks

P.S. I sent you a PM (replied to your PM), please have look at it.

:disapprove

in the back up menu there is a button "add remote share" did you use that ?
Then you get a new menu and you can select a computer in your LAN that is sharing files the nwsp2's should be visible
After selecting the computer (external host) from the dropdown menu, select the folder from the dropdown list under host and enter a user and password in case it is a samba share

then click create external folder
In the lowest window it will be shown if making a connection to the external host succeeded

go back to the backup menu and now this external folder will be present in the lists in left and right window
external samba folders always start with ip-smb-name, external nfs shares start with ip-nfs-name
With ip the ip address of the external host and name the name of the folder
In the left window select the external folder and in the right window the folder were you want to store the data, be sure you have write access to that folder and now click accept. The backup task should start now. I just tested it again on my system and it works ok

hope this is sufficient for you to make it work

ps I received you pm, thks ;)

Hi bozo29,

Even if they are nwsp2, I suggest you stop all nonessential services on the two NAS. The command you tried to do is write in another share data from the source folder of the same NAS.

When the resources of the NAS are widely used, it takes a long time to see the task running in the bottom section...

O.K.

I did exactly as you said (the first time I did the same).
The "remote share" was created.

Then I selected in the left the source folder and in the right the destination folder.
Capture2.jpg

Then I clicked the "accept" button and that is the result:
Capture3.jpg

I have rights to read / write in that folder, I checked the "windows share" and the "ftp", and it works.
Any ideas? What am I doing wrong? :hammerhead :hammerhead
I tried "Mirror Backup", "Incremental Backup" and "Restore".
What could I do? :scratch
Please help.

Thanks

Ok Bozo29,

I understand what it happens ! I managed to reproduce your problem :?
It's a good new but also bad new : There is a bug in the backup menu...

I think that you don't create the share "fvdw" on the NAS where you execute the rsync command.

It must apparently that this share exists because the log is saved in this division. What I do not understand, because this case is normaly planned : the log is then saved to the tmp folder. :whistle

What are the permissions on your /rw_fs/tmp ?.

So temporarily, you will need to create this share "fvdw" ...

Sorry for this problem

Now I tried the usb.
I connected a stick (in front usb) and it appeared in both menu part "Disk Setup" and the "Backup".
I tried to copy something to stick on the NAS and I failed.
Same result.

Perhaps, our messages have crossed...

So You must create the share "fvdw"

Hi Jocko,

Yes, our messages have crossed.

Here is the snapshot in PuTTY with all folders rights:

Please tell me where to create "fvdw" share and what to do after that. :thinking

Thank you very much both, you and fvdw, because you responded so quickly.
