NETWORK SPACE 2 LITE VERSION POWER SUPPLY

NETWORK SPACE 2 LITE VERSION POWER SUPPLY

Postby bozo29 » Sat Feb 18, 2012 9:29 am

I have a NWSP2 (1TB) CLASSIC VERSION and yesterday I bought another one (2TB) which is LITE VERSION.
After I unpacked I found that the power supply output is 12V/2A.
The power supply from the classic version is output 12V/3A.
My question is:
Problems may arise because of this?
I mean, the 2A is enough?
I know that the lite version has only 128MB/RAM and classic version has 256MB/RAM.
But even in this case, it is sufficient 2A?

Can someone who has lite version for some time to tell me if he/she had problems?

Thanks.

think 2A will be enough to my opinion, the power consumption of the nwsp2 will be around 16 watt with HDD running (of course this dependenden on brand of the HDD) and around 7 watt when idle (disk stopped), if a remember correctly. 12V/2A can supply 24 watts assuming 12V is DC

maybe you can return the unit to the shop and demand a classic version

Hi fvdw,

I can't return the unit to the shop and demand a classic version, because they don't know how it is classic or lite (not write anything on the box).
And in my opinion, I do not think that Lacie made classic version from some time.
However today I want to install on it fvdw-sl-11, so I will lose the guarantee. :evilwink

You kindly tell me, if I could make up for lack of 128MB/RAM, making the swap partition larger? :dontknow
You know as I have a problem with partitions. :hammerhead

Thank for your effort

Hi Bozo, just keep the swap as in the guide for the nwsp2 classic, increasing it above 512 MB has no use for a NAS with 128 MB RAM

I see you have discovered the new smiles :vhcool
