Fail to upgrade from version 17.0 to 18.x

I stopped using fvdw shortly after installing ver.17.0 update patch (Mar 2019). (Don't ask why - unless you want me to bore you to death!j.

Having just returned and found that meanwhile ver. 1.02 has become the current one, I tried to upgrade to it. I got this (repeatedly):-
Code: Select all
Extract error: some files are missing
              Error 303
              Fail: cannot retrieve the package

Along the way I went around the loop of -> discovering the Win 10 SMBv1 glitch -> enabling SMBv1 -> trying again to install ver.18.02 -> failing again (twice) -> doing a search and finding this thread (which doesn't seem to get me any further towards a solution).

I must be missing something.

Any ideas welcome.

(BTW I became a donator some time ago).

Hi Jocko

You were right - I had omitted to perform step 6.

However, having now installed that patch, and had a message telling me that the new firmware is installed - it isn't!!!

My NAS is still stuck in ver. 17.0, and is telling me I need to upgrade to ver. 18.

It seems I've arrived at an impasse.

I'm in need of help and advice as to where I go from here.

Communicate with me :please

Hi

I did not understand your last post.

Even if the fw claims you have the latest version, did you try to upgrade ?

I checked how this may occur.
Can you test it
Code: Select all
ls -l /etc/patch11
If this file does not exist that means you failed to install the patch.

And please to note you have to reboot the nas and reload fully the fw web-interface

Hi Jocko

Thanks.

Having run the test, the patch file was not found.

I therefore installed it once more. It showed up (for a second time) in the fvdw folder. Re-started both NAS and web-interface.

I then again installed 'fvdw-sl server Latest version' by - as before - clicking on its button. Install - once again - was indicated as having been successful. Re-started both NAS and web-interface.

Upon re-starting "fvdw-sl firmware version 17.0" is STILL indicated at the top of the web-interface and the message "A new Firmware version is available" STILL displays at the top of the 'System Management' page 'Information' tab.

So, back to square one :sob

Any suggestions?

If the patch11 is not really installed, by clicking on the upgrade button you re-install a fresh version 17.0 so not patched.

Please try again to install patch11 and check only if /etc/patch11 is present and do nothing else

I moved your posts as it seems you use a nwsp2 (and not a 2big2)
