TFTP and u-boot Problems, but finally got it working

Hi @all,
I just finished fvdw installation on my nws2 classic (SW V1.02 from 12-2009) and would like to tell you about the problems I encountered during the process and how I cicumvented them. I used the console 6 and fvdw 17 package as well as the how to's and help files.
I needed new firmware now, because we have our first Win10 notebook in our home network and I didn't want to enable smbv1 on it. The other security measures taken in the network made an update to the device unnecessary until now. So after finding a rather new firmware update at Lacie I didn't get to manage the update process and while googling on older firmwares I found this awesome project and registered.
At the moment there are two problems I didn't find solutions for in the forum. Let's change it.
First:
The tftp server didn't start (all measures taken, disabled firewall, av, sandboxes and used cable-LAN connection).
I tried a second download and machine but the problem still occured. Both PCs were Win7 (1x32 bit, 1x64 bit) with actual updates.
I fixed this problem for me, running the console in Windows 7 safe mode with network support. In this mode, the server actually started.
Second:
I had a waiting loop for the u-boot connection.
By accident I found out, that the network boot mode on my device only enables, when you hold the switch on the backside of the device for a few seconds until the LED lights up in red. Maybe a circumstance due to the old bootloader.
Because of the time of the year (stress followed by abroad vacation) I won't have much time answering questions the next days/weeks.
Have a Merry Chrismas and a happy New Year 2019 and keep on with the project.
Best regards,
phischu
