Also problems installing firmware 17

Hi there,

For the last couple of days I tried restoring my Network Space 2 using the lacie-wiki guides. Messed around with partitions etc in linux, didn't work (when writing the files to the right partitions, it said the partition was full).

So now I'm trying to install the latest FVDW firmware, and again I'm having trouble :'(

The NWSP2 in connected with the same router as my pc.
So I run fvdw-sl-console.exe
=> "install fvdw-sl firmware"
=> select the KIRKWOOD UiMAGE
=> power on the NWSP2
And then start waiting for the U-boot... Nothing happening...

I don't know if I should be able to see the NWSP2 in windows=>networklocations, but I can't. Also when I check the DHCP settings from the router, i only see my pc connected.
Like I said, I messed around with the HDD (2T) from the NWSP2 formatting it, creating and deleting partitions etc, could this be the cause? The blue licht of the NWSP2 is blinking slowly (1sec interval).

I think I gave you all the info I have, please help me. I would be forever in your debt!

Greetings, Jef

Hi! No I haven't seen that post. I'm using a wired connection, I'll try the other 2 options later.

I just started the guide for installing version 11 (using ubuntu) and partitions are formatting atm.
I believe updating to version 17 is not possible from version 11, correct?

Will try when formatting is done :)

yes you can't.

But you can upgrade version 11.0 to 16.1 without installing the former versions. Then just install the rollup patch for version 16.1 and you should be able to install version 17.0 (and also its rollup patch)

Bummer, I'm back already... When using the web interface to update the firmware, I get the following message:

Firmware upgrade step 2 started...
Firmware upgrade failed, upgrade process aborted, reason:
fw upgrade found platform file firmware package differs from that on running system

Trying the firmware downloaded from this page: http://plugout.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2313
What am I doing wrong?

So you try to upgrade to version 16.1

I assume you use the Lacie Upgrade menu and not SPD8020 upgrade menu
Can you post, please a screen capture of the system info menu

Ok I understand where is the issue.

Up to version 15.3, we release a package for each platform type. After version 15.3, we create common packages according with some platform types.

Version 11 can not manage these common packages (but yes with version 15.3)

So need to do :
- upgrade version 11 to 15.3
- upgrade version 15.3 to 16.1
- install the rollup patch for version 16.1
(reload fully the web interface to avoid any brower cache issue)
- upgrade version 16.1 patched to 17.0 (can be done directly from the upgrade menu)
- install the rollup patch for version 17.0

Ok, upgraded to v16.1 but now I have to upload the patch to a shared folder. I don't know how to acces the disk using FTP yet, so that's work for tomorrow :) Thanks for the directions!
