MKV and Samsung UE40D6100SW problem with LaCie filmware

Thank you for your support!
I have the problem with MKV (matroska) playing on Smart TV with the LaCie filmware, - “Unknown format”.
Do your filmware (release 10-1) fix this problem?
Or maybe you could give instructions after installation?

If this message is displayed by Matrasko then you probably try to play a file with a format that is not supported by "Matroska"
This has nothing to do with the firmware running on you lacie

Well indirectly it does, as Sasmung is not capable with many mediaservers. I had this problem too and a new version of Twonky or MediaTomb fixes this :-) I had Twonky 6.3 or something installed on my nas when it had the original firmware. So maybe in the future fvdw could compile MediaTomb or a more recent version of Twonky (I prefer the first as its free) for the Lacie ? :)

Frankly speaking, I look for alternative firmware, because I can’t manage and update Twonky with official firmware.
I believe the problem with Samsung TVs could be solved by setting up receiver-TV in config of Twonky through the web-interface, - in my case it must be 192.168.1.6:9000
Maybe I do something wrong trying to access the Twonky config using LaCie filmware?

And as I’m win user (so lamer in Linux), please, answer how can I update the Twonky on your firmware after purchase the Twonky license?

Yes the question is does the mediaserver supports the file. Upgrading Twonky is in principle not to difficult all files can be found in the the twonky media share. However the newer versions seems to use a different name let the system now it is running. As result the webinterafce page of our firmware does not see if it is running. I tried a while ago a version 6.0.30 but I did not complete tests with because of other priorities. Also the fact that i is not freeware is for many users a roadblock.

Did anyone tried the minidlna mediaserver included in the firmware to stream these MKV files ? (In principle minidlna is supporting it)

I think many mediaservers support MKV streaming, but some players misunderstand the stream description and as a result give out a “unknown format error”. It leads to an annoying situation when server and player are able to work with MKV, but you can not watch a movie
I don’t know why, but Samsung Smart TVs have such problem, - they perfectly play MVK from USB flash and some PC servers, but not from many NAS’es. And I’ve read that last releases of Twonky allow to apply Samsung configuration to solve this problem. So I need the Twonky and also believe that I’m not the one.

Yesterday I successfully installed your firmware. I’ll study it in several days, but the first impressions are the extremely positive. THANKS!
I understand that you are too busy this another important problems, but, PLEASE, integrate into the next firmware update the actual trial release of Twonky.

Or may be after installation of last Twonky I can link auto start script “twonkymedia.sh” into some location to enable autostart? :?:
May you explain how to do this link?

I’m testing miniDLNA… Yesterday I looked through MKV BDRip 17Gb with my Samsung UE40D6100 and it works! Even time search works and if the complete playback will be stable, I’ll forget about Twonky. ;)

In any case I will have a look at twonky 6.0.x. I did some trials with 6.0.34 and it is running on the firmware. Only twonkymedia made some changes on were to store files and the pid identification they changed from twonky.pid to mediaserver.pid :x that makes an easy upgrade not possible. Need to make changes in the firmware.
Also the license keys of version 4 don't seem to work with version 6  So upgrading it might cause some issue with users that have a key of the old version (5.0Beta and that works with a key for 4x versions).
Think a choice between installing 6.0.x or 5.0.Beta must be foreseen.
