IP adres NS2

I have a problem. I cannot acces my LaCie NetworkSpace 2 anymore.(with the alternative firmware from this site)
The scanprogram cannot find the NAS either. I know the IP adres should be in the IP-list of the router but I'm in a student house and the router is not mine.
Use of Internet is included in the rent and access to the router is blocked.
The NAS is connected directly to the network port of my computer. I used a normal network cable and a cross cable, still no luck accessing the NAS.
What options do I have?

if you connect it directly to your computer then you must enable a dhcp server on your pc. This server will then assign an ip addres to your nas.
In this post you can find how to set up a dhcp server on a computer that has only one network card
http://www.wikihow.com/Set-up-DHCP-on-a ... ea-Networkif you you have more then one network card in your PC then setting the option in windows to share internet connection could also be an option

As I have a wireless and a "normal" network card in my laptop I did the Internet Connection sharing. Unfortunately the NWSP2 is still not detected. Is there a way to reset de NWSP2? Or load the firmware again?

the problem could be that your PC uses another name for the workgroup. Then it will not detect pc's with another workgroup name.
The default setting in the nwsp2 firmware is "mshome" (without the quotes) as this is often used by windows users.
If your pc has another workgroup name change it to this and you might be able to detect it.
Another option could be to run an ip scanner to detect the ip of the nwsp2 (

I'm about to give up and throw the NWSP2 out of the window :)
Despite the above tips, no IP from the NWSP2. From another forum I read using the apr command in case the IP is not know.
For using the apr command you need to know the mac adsress of the NWSP2. That's easy: it is printed on a label inside de NWSP2
The trick is to assign a temp IP to the nas using the command (in a DOS box):
arp -s 192.168.137.175 xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx
(Where the x's are the mac address)
I managed to assign 192.168.137.175 to the NWSP2
But using this IP address to get acces to the web interface is failing.
So I decided to do a firmware install.
I downloaded the console package. Starting the console software, select the install fw option and then the software says: waiting for UBoot.
Then powering on the NAS and after 8 seconds the UBoot windows disappears and the telnet window opens. So far so good but then an error: terminal timeout.
Any suggestions how to proceed?

:lmao don't do that it is pity
first please explain how your local setup is, so how is everything connected with each other
ps if your local network has ip pool starting with 192.168.137 then the telnet terminal of the console will not connect as it tries to use 192.168.1.252 as default setting. If you cannot change the ip pool of the router then you must use the automatic assigned ip set by the router dhcp server in the telnet terminal to connect.
ps did you used the ip scanner ? that will list all ip's in your lan including mac addres so you should be able to detect the ip it has.

Yes! I managed to get the IP adress of the NWSP2. But..... when I logon to the NWSP2 I get a sort of limited web interface with the only options:
- Systeembeheer
- Backup
- Web tools
- Help
So no configuration pages?????????

Never mind: I didn't use the admin inlogname and password.
After using the correct credantials I'm in the web interface of the NAS. At last ........
Next step: update firmware to 16

thinking it over
You logged in to the user console
(which user did you use ? to enable that you must have logged in to the webinterface and enabled it for certain users...)
Anyhow
you should use as username: admin-nas and password: admin (unless you changed the default password) to get the full web interface
