New USB Disk Wont mount

Hi,
For christmas from my wife I got one of these (
http://www.seagate.com/gb/en/external-h ... TBV3000200 )
But when I connected it, all I get is a load of messages as follows
"[ 1530.648362] hub 1-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1"
Is there anything magic I need to do to get it working? The dive is working ok on my windows box, but the connector on the back of the drive is somewhat unusual. It looks like two micro-usb connectors glued together side by side. so I'm assuming thats the issue. Its obviously "special" enough to cause problems.

the usb port on the back side (= the side were the power on button is) of the nwsp2 is not for connecting an usb disk, it is for connecting the nwsp2 to an usb port of your pc.
If you want to use a usb disk on the nwsp2 you need to use the usb port on front side.
ps use as label for the usb-disk something without spaces or characters like " or '
The label is the name you can give for instance in windows.

Hi,
I am using the port at the front.
I have the label set to something simple.
the connector I mentioned is viewable here
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-ZD2u ... AG1052.jpg(I hope the link works anyway)
It says its a USB v3 device when connected to windows, can the Space2 handle that via v2?

Did you externally power that disk? USB3 can deliver *much* more power than USB2, so it's perfectly possible the disk runs fine buspowered on an USB3 port, and not on an USB2 port.
Further the disk should run just fine on USB2.

that doesn't look as a usb v3 connector to me, but maybe the other side of the cable looks different
see more info here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_3.0usb 3.0 is downwards comaptible to usb2.0 so yes the nwsp2 should be able to handle it. I used myself recently such a disc (verbatim) and no problems

the other side looks as you would expect with the standard v3 blue usb looking thing.
I'll try connect it to a Linux VM / Linux boot pen drive tonight and see if I can get any useful info from that.

Hi rafesl,
No, lsusb is no longer supported in the newer linux kernels and not yet adapted until today
You must use this commmand /usr/bin/usb-devices

thanks for that...
been too long away from H/W support... S/W dev dont need to know that :-)
