You need first to detect if you have a nwsp1 or a nwsp2 : fvdwsl console doesn't work with a nwsp1 to install the firmware or get a telnet access.
If you have a nwsp1, you must install manually the firmware.

The easy way to set it : a nwsp1 have only 1 USB port and a nwsp2 has 2 usb port (front and back side).

To use the fvdwsl console you must enable the dhcp server on your ISP box (ip range at least upto 252) and the IP Lan must match 192.168.0.xx or 192.168.1.xx

You are right : a nwsp2 has 2 back usb ports : type A and type B. (In my previous post I talked only the common port : type A)

You can not use fvdwsl console when you connect the Lacie to your PC.
So on your ISP box( ADSL router), you must enable the DCHP server and your PC and your DCHP must be located on the same LAN (or switch) and get an ip as 192.168.1.xx or 192.168.0.xx

About telnet issue maybe it was a problem with your firewall .

So now you use the manual method. You need to check if you have an AF disk (advanced Format).

If you use the basic partition table with an AF disk you will get several warnings about some non-alignment sectors.

So in this case you must use an other partition table.
