Postby NasaMan » Wed Apr 10, 2013 8:58 pm

So there is the first question about installing with the windows fvdw installer. I get a error betwwen step 5 and 6 when Telnet starts. Thje cursor blinks a few times after that I get a connection time out. Any advices?

EDIT: The correct error message is Connection to 192.168.0.252/telnet timed out

Yes, sometime I got this behavior.

So go to the connect menu of the telnet window
Select "remote system" and click Ok

Usually, the login request is then displayed

what is the ip pool used by the your dhcp server ? an is the subnet setting not blocking access to 192.168.1.252

(you could also try the ip address assigned by your dhcp server when the standalone kernel is running)

the pool is 192.168.0.100 - 192.168.0.254 The Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0 and should be ok? I tried 192.168.1.x and 192.168.0.x but everytime the same.

very odd, did the standalone kernel load ? you can see this in the command window that was open temporary

Can be firewall issue that prevents that the nas cannot contact the tftp server

If there is no dhcp address asigned then the kernel is not loaded...and of course then also 192.168.0.252 won't work

the tftp server has a log tab you see there if the kernel was transfered

I just enabled the telnet function in win7 which changes the firewall setting (used this http://www.sysprobs.com/telnet-windows-7 ) . But it still doesn`t works. The tftp server log is empty so I think the kernel wasn`t transfered.

the nas will contact the telnet server started by the fvdw-sl-console no need to start telnet of windows 7, running two servers will create problems
I will post a screenshot what you should see
