Hey there, like I say last night, today was the day to make this install, everything was OK, after a bit of hicups at start with fdisk /dev/sdb command, my lacie was at first live boot from ubuntu sda, I manged to copy all partition from lacie to USB memory, but after a restart because USB was plugged my lacie take sdb, and I didn't notice that, so I manage to format my memory stick instead my lacie, so my backup for lacie original firmware is gone. Perhaps sameone on this forum willl post a link wih this files to get back if needed (my lacie is classic model with a samsung hdd).
Another part were was a problem for my was chmod 777 comand on xml file, returned no such file (path and file name was corect), and finally I have a little trouble get over network on my nas after I connected NAS to my router, http:// fvdwsl-base/ doesn't work.
It took me about 5 ours to download and burn discs (debian, knoppix, and ubuntu, in the end I use ubuntu) and to make this install.
this is how it looks now

So again thanks for this firmware, nice work.

I have same questions for you :
1. From here I need to download the latest firmware for nswp2 (I presume is 13) and make a "in browser" update ?
2. It is same thing what I need to check before I make this update ? to see if my install is really OK.
3. For securing all this option on this hdd for access without correct credentials what is your recommendations ?

yes you can upgrade to version 13-0 using the firmware upgrade menu for Lacie devices. Be sure to use the one for nwsp2

seriously is much faster than original firmware and I like that a lot. For all that features that came with version 13 (and in my case with 11) it will take same time to discover all (I need same documenting to do an each one).

I have another lacie at work (version 1) , that to will see this firmware. :)

this is my speed on writing on my NAS, behind a router, for this reason connection is only 100 Mbit/s. I thing is max for this type of connection, no ?

this is about 7.5 MByte/s , thats indeed about the max speed on 100 Mbits LAN (1 byte = 8bits), this because the LAN interface reserve some bandwidth for other communications.
On a gigabit LAN you can achieve 25 MByte/s with a nwsp2
