You can check with
Code: Select all
fdisk -l /dev/sda

It seems I haven't got a sda9 partition...
What should I do about that?!

I partitioned sda with the tables from the howto manual 12aug2011.
When formatting sda8 using the command: mke2fs -j -m 1 /dev/sdb8 I got an error: "Value too large for defined data type"
This is a 2TB disk...

How can I format sda8 correctly?

I am running kernel: 2.6.39.4 #88 PREEMPT

it is maybe a busybox issue in the kernel there is also a standalone version of mke2fs included

Try as command
Code: Select all
mke2fs-64 -j -m 1 /dev/sda8

Root seems to be set to /dev/sdb7... How can I change that?

root@(none):/dev # dmesg | grep console
Kernel command line: console=ttyS0,115200 root=/dev/sdb7 ro reset=0 productType=ASTON_KW
console [ttyS0] enabled
console [netcon0] enabled
netconsole: network logging started
root@(none):/dev #

uuh :scratch
what are you trying to do and please describe what you already have done

(The standalone kernel runs fully from RAM and it has a root file system in RAM)

The first time I tried to install the firmware, I wrongly selected my bootloader would support GPT...
There were no error messages, but after the reboot, on which the NWSP2 did not reboot but shutdown only, I got a red flashing led...

So I tried to installe the firmware again without selecting GPT support. Didn't work either. Still red flashing led after shutdown/ boot.

What should I try now?

I tftp-ed mke2fs-ext3 from the tftp directory to the NWSP2 and ran that using the command: /mke2fs-ext3 -j -m 1 /dev/sda8
That runs, but I don't know how to make the device boot...

again, what did you do more ?

in telnet you can initiate a reboot with
Code: Select all
reboot -f

But it will fial if you didn't have write disk image and kernel to the dis and set the database.
You should use the installer script... much easier

I also ran that command.

But what should I do after that?

I tried that 3 times now, to no avail...
When I run the script, it seems to work fine. No error messages. But after reboot -f (which does not actually reboot) and start the NWSP2 it comes back in the red flashing led mode...
