Hi Nasaman,

As said by fvdw, some translations can have few spelling mistakes although these are made by a german member. And I think that this is the case for the four available translations : I'm French and yet I still find at each firmware release of spelling mistakes in the French translation.

But I assume that case will be uncommon. So, I think the simple way is that you post in this forum Firmware support language : Members contribution your suggestions.

Note : I take this opportunity to remind the members that it is possible in these sub forums to contribute to the translation of the firmware in different languages.
Today, despite initial proposals no contribution has been posted ... :whistle

Hi
Im a newbie here.
I have a Lacie NW2 which has a 1TB on board.
I want to upgrade it to carry a 2TB HDD.
I noticed this website and have signed up to download the v14 firmware to upgrade via Windows 7x64.
I have tried to download the file : download/file.php?id=1730
So far I have tried on three devices, one on 3g, and two on ADSL2.
The file has got up to 80% but fails everytime - around 24 tries over 24hours.

Can anyone advise if what i want to do is feasible, and also is there another link for this file on a mirror?
Also, is there a link to the web based firmware install?
Many thanks
Kobes

Thanks fvdw - That should help.
I just tried downloading the fw for upgrade via Linux, but again that failed at 38% - download/file.php?id=1486

Can you confirm that what i want to do is feasible?

I have placed the 2tb in the NAS and have the old 1tb drive isolated, in case of failure - I can see many partitions on the old disk in Windows.
I can probably backup the raw partitions prior to formating the old drive for other use.

This new fw you have produced looks like a much better for options compared with the stock fw - Well done!
Thanks Again.

In the download forum there is a separate topic were you can download the upgrade file for fvdw-sl-14-0 file is smaller pieces
(this one is only of use when you have already an earlier version of our firmware installed)

viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1140

ps I just uploaded the ms-windows install package in smaller pieces

I also got problems loading the fvdw firmware using the script.
But I succeed in loading the kernel from the tftp server using the commands below.

How should I move on from this situation?!

tftpboot 0x800000 kernel-file-name-as-present in-tftp-folder

You can check with
Code: Select all
fdisk -l /dev/sda

It seems I haven't got a sda9 partition...
What should I do about that?!

I partitioned sda with the tables from the howto manual 12aug2011.
When formatting sda8 using the command: mke2fs -j -m 1 /dev/sdb8 I got an error: "Value too large for defined data type"
This is a 2TB disk...

How can I format sda8 correctly?

why not let the fvdw--sl installer script do the job ?

When this action is started in the fvdw-sl console, the standalone kernel is loaded and it connects with a telnet client.
Now before uploading the installer script you could delete all partitions by using fdisk that is build in the standalone kernel.
When the disk has no partitions anymore then upload and start the installer script according the instructions (see also help in fvdw-sl console)
