Hi fantomel

are you not satisfied with current media server (Twonky, minidlna, mediatomb and logitech): they have basically the same features?

It also seems that this server is need a lot of resources:
Processor Power

By far the biggest limitation with most NAS is processor-based. Very few NAS contain powerful processors, which can have a significant impact on your experience using Plex.

Virtually every Plex App will need content to be transcoded at least some of the time. Examples of why content might be transcoded:

The content is not perfectly compatible with the device (filetype/container, resolution, bitrate, codec, etc.)
A subtitle needs to be burned into the video for display
Content is higher quality than what the Plex App requests (for instance, remote or shared access)

Transcoding can be a very CPU intensive process in many cases. Many processors used in NAS are not capable of good performance in situations where transcoding is required.

Jocko thanks for the quick reply, not that i am not pleased with it's futures, i think that your work it's great. I am aware that plex uses a lot of processor for transcoding, but at least as a test since there are a lot of ppls that are using it. Me personally i can't use any of the dlna services here because of my tv, that's a f**ing LG 2013. This generation has a lot of problems on dlna, i can't see subtitles inside movies. The only dlna that almost does the job it's minidlna. Because of this thing , since i have in my home 2-2big network 2 and 1 ns2 i can't use any of them for dlna. I have made myself another "mini-itx" server that has plex and it works like a wonder.

P.S. Still waiting for that beta for 2big2 with raid support :) as a tester.

Hi fantomel,

Ok, we will see how to implement this server but not for the next version 15-2 which is almost ready.

Note: RAID feature is still planned for version 16.0

Hi amrmagdyy,

Plex is not an open source and so from the plex site you can download only install packages for some NAS types: (Synology, netgear, qnap,...). Currently these packages can not be installed directly on a lacie NAS. We must test them and surely make some patches.
Synology package for ARM seems to be a good candidate but its owner scripts can not be used...

So it was too late to include it with version 15-2 but for next version.

However, I think that this feature would be available as an add-on. So if we succeeded to install it, it would be released before a next version.

Important: Plex Media server ARM version does not support transcoding So all your media would have to be able to direct play on all playback devices that you think to use (not checked but read on several forum)

A while ago I wrote a script to install Plex on FFP (link), that can be of use.

BTW, I think FFP will run fine on the firmware.
