What size with Gparted(Mio/Mb) first install v11

Postby lacietorrent » Wed Oct 31, 2012 11:49 pm

Hello ( sorry for my bad english).

I have just bought a Lacie Networkspace 2 Lite 2TB with HDD GPT partition table.

I have read some topics here to trying to install version 11 to upgrade to version 13.

I understand the procedure to create the gpt partitions and how download/use the special kernel with gpt enabled (UIMAGE-26394-NWSP2CL-51)

My only problem now is:

In Gparted , the value size to enter for create the partitions is in: xxx Mio - Not xxxxx Mb

I followed this post to trying create the partitions :

viewtopic.php?f=11&t=698#p4085

I used the following sizes:

sda1 - 512MB -> ext3
sda2 - 512MB -> ext3
sda3 - 512MB -> swap-linux
sda4 - 1MB - placeholder only, ext3
sda5 - 785MB -> ext3
sda6 - 7MB -> unformated >> (here write UIMAGE-26xyz-NWSP2CL-n - compressed linux kernel image)
sda7 - 512MB ->ext3
sda8 - rest of hdd -> ext3

So for sda1 ( for me sdb1), i must create a 512 Mb partition in ext3, but 512Mb it's not egal to 512 Mio ...

And in Gparted i must enter a xxx Mio value , not a xxx Mb value ... :-/

Can you help me please to give me the correct values to enter for sda1 to sda7 in xxx Mio in Gparted ?

I have read on google that 1Mio = ~1.05Mb
I'm afraid to put the same values ( Ex:512 Mio for 512Mb) from the post and that it does not work ...

I'm Lost :-(
Thank you for your help !

Thanks for reply
Everything works fine, v13 update ^^ Good job your firmware :-)

I installed Minight commander, iftop , iptables and python(to install/run ' Fail2ban ') with ipkg, it works well.
'Fail2ban' watch on ssh/ftp connections and when someone tape three times the wrong Login/password, it is banned and 'fail2ban' sends me an e-mail.

I removed all dependencies installed with python to increase 'system root' disk space.
I did not encounter any particular problem for the moment but it is good to use ipkg ?

I'd like to try to compile iptables /mc / iftop / and python on the nas but i don't how ...
Do you have a guide for install needed compilation tools on the nas ?
Make add-on would be better I think.but how ? :-)

Thank you for your help !
