I realized all my desires with your firmware 10-1 on my LaCie NS vs2 Classic. 8-)
I’ve worked with Linux for the first time and maid the firmware upgrade for three hours.

The installation description is detailed enough, but for beginners as me, I would add two moments:
1. If you want to save up information on your PC HDD it’s really important to disconnect them and start system with bootable Linux LiveCD (or USB flash), LaCie HDD and USB Flash with downloaded fvdw-sl firmware. And your LaCie HDD in this case may become "/dev/sda” (not “/dev/sdb”).
2. I don’t know why, but by default in my system “fdisk” works with sectors – not with cylinders, so I’ve used “u” as option for fdisk to give start and end partition in cylinder (instead of sector).

These two moments have taken lot of time for reflections ;)
