Access private share via SMB

Access private share via SMB

Postby marioth1 » Tue Jan 06, 2015 9:01 pm

Hello,

I have a private share (named "Cal") allowing access via Samba.
When trying to access the share via Windows Explorer (8.1)
I get a credential window but when I enter my credentials (nas\user and pw or just user and pw doesn't matter)
I get an error message saying :

"can't access \\NAS\Cal. May you don't have rights. Multiple connections to a server or a ressource from the same user using multiple credentials are not allowed. Disconnect previous connnections to the server or the ressource and try again."

I can access this private share via WebDav.
If I make this share public, also SMB works.

Is it intended that private shares do not work over SMB?

best regards

Maybe you have used other credential for another share and with family version you can not use in the same time two credentials for getting access to network resource

Nope, I'm using Windows 8.1 pro and the credentials I configured on my SPD8020 are not used anywhere else. I only have one computer in use.
It also doesn't work if I create other users in fvdw,
-> User Account
-> New User
-> Username, Description, Password / Full Access to specific share

-> same problem

there must be another connection from your pc to the nas using these credentials

do you have installed a download manager or something like that, those could try to make multiple corrections

It also could be that you have a user console open (the simplied webinterface) with using the same name/password as is used by samba.

I haven't yet figured out what it is but you are right, it must be a Windows Problem,
When I access the device via its IP-Adress instead of the devicename it works.
Also when I create a new Windows User it works...

Hi marioth1

Think it is this old story of workgroup. :whistle

In win8 : the default workgoup name is WORKGROUP but with XP is MSHOME. So you need to set the same workgroup name between your XP, win8.1 and the NAS
