Usage: mount -V                 : print version
mount -h                 : print this help
       mount                    : list mounted filesystems
mount -l                 : idem, including volume labels
So far the informational part. Next the mounting.
The command is `mount [-t fstype] something somewhere'.
Details found in /etc/fstab may be omitted.
       mount -a [-t|-O] ...     : mount all stuff from /etc/fstab
mount device             : mount device at the known place
mount directory          : mount known device here
mount -t type dev dir    : ordinary mount command
Note that one does not really mount a device, one mounts
a filesystem (of the given type) found on the device.
One can also mount an already visible directory tree elsewhere:
       mount --bind olddir newdir
or move a subtree:
       mount --move olddir newdir
One can change the type of mount containing the directory dir:
       mount --make-shared dir
       mount --make-slave dir
       mount --make-private dir
       mount --make-unbindable dir
One can change the type of all the mounts in a mount subtree
containing the directory dir:
       mount --make-rshared dir
       mount --make-rslave dir
       mount --make-rprivate dir
       mount --make-runbindable dir
A device can be given by name, say /dev/hda1 or /dev/cdrom,
or by label, using  -L label  or by uuid, using  -U uuid .
Other options: [-nfFrsvw] [-o options] [-p passwdfd].
For many more details, say  man 8 mount .

yes the top one I needed, no trace of the driver in the boot output.
Compiler is running. In that kernel we will load the driver as mdule so we can experiment more easy with making changes

ps you can use this newer kernel instead of #20 in future
It has also some changes for e-sata disk detection and the id assigned to it (request Jocko)

a new kernel and kernel module are sent

install the module before booting the new kernel. After you have booted the new kernel connect with putty and give command

Code: Select all
modprobe g762

after that do
Code: Select all
lsmod

to see if the module is loaded.

If that is ok proceed with
Announce the chip to the i2c bus:
Code: Select all
echo "g762 0x3e" >/sys/bus/i2c/devices/i2c-0/new_device

Enable fancontrol pwm mode
Code: Select all
echo 1 > /sys/bus/i2c/devices/0-003e/pwm1_mode

Set fan speed
Code: Select all
echo 8 > /sys/bus/i2c/devices/0-003e/pwm1

Valid pwm1 values are 0 to 255, AFAIK
0 is lowest, I read that value higher then 50 don't much more effect on the fan speed.
(source: ,Mijzelf g762 driver 2big2)

success

maybe the echo to new_device is not required as I already declared it inside the kernel.
After inserting the module what is the content of /sys/bus/i2c/devices/i2c-0/0-003e
