NTFS HDD in USB Hub

NTFS HDD in USB Hub

Postby dimitrios_n » Thu Oct 18, 2012 11:26 am

Goodmorning,

I have just install the firmware in my Lacie NS1 and everything looks fine. In the original installation I had 3 usb HDD in a USB hub that where shared from the NAS.

I am trying to do this in this firmware, but I find it difficult. Only 1 HDD (the one that is formatted in ext4) is appeared in the UI. So I can Not Mount and share my other HDDs.

Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

normally they should be recognized

are you famliar with Linux, if so log on via SSH and after connecting your usb hub and HDD's give the command
Code: Select all
lsusb
to see what usb devices are recognized, from that info we can work further to see were the problem is.

ps only ntfs, fat, fat32 and ext2, ext3 formatted disk are supported via usb

Dear fvdw,

sorry for the delay, i have other issues to check.

I used the lsusb and I get this result:

root@HomeNAS3:/ # lsusb
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 058f:6254 Alcor Micro Corp. USB Hub
Bus 001 Device 010: ID 058f:6254 Alcor Micro Corp. USB Hub
Bus 001 Device 011: ID 059f:1018 LaCie, Ltd

any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

well your hub is detected and so to see one HDD

Unfortunate I do not know why the other don't show up.
You can try if the hub is the problem or not by attaching the disks one by one and see if they are detected

Be sure that the label of the HDD doesn't contain spaces or characters like ' or " or \ or /

you can try, start with something like "disk1" (without the quotes) and see if is detected, disconnect it and connect again with greek characters and see if it is still detected
