update FVDWSL-12-0

update FVDWSL-12-0

Postby uelpenich » Fri Mar 23, 2012 7:47 pm

I updated my LaCie Network Space Vs1 from 11-0 to 12-0 using the new firmware update menu method.

The update lasted:
60 seconds for step1
7 minutes for step 2
3 minutes for step 3

Works fine, thank you

I've just the firmware too.zero problems.it seems good.still trying to understand how to use the browser for remote access.

I've got another question by the way.is it possible to download files from hosting sites like rapidshare and others with the pc off just like we do with torrents?
:please

Hi matpic,

with the new binary wget in fvdwsl 12.0, you could download from hosting sites like rapishare :
See the page : http://www.g-loaded.eu/2007/09/15/use-wget-or-curl-to-download-from-rapidshare-premium/.

I don't test it and may be rapidshare changed its secure protocol.

In addition to Jocko's post

you could use torrenflux-b4rt (in torrent clients menu) for it in combination with wget binary
(torrenflux needs to know the path to wget, it is in /usr/bin, it should be set up already correctly by default)
If you use wget on the command line (via SSH access) be careful where you store the downloaded files, you should use /share/1000/xxxx (xxx folder of your choice)
If you don't not you will fill up the system partition containing the firmware with the downloaded files very quicky and the NAS will stop functioning
