Trouble with nfs

Thank you for trying to solve the problem.

I tried mounting nfs ussing tcp (proto=tcp) : same behaviour. 30 minutes after the backup startup, it stops. Restarting NFS server makes it go on.

Anything I can do for helping you to solve the problem ?

Hi hfro

no not really, it is a nfs cleint issue, the command used to get dat from the nfs server seems to be waiting for something, we need to figure out what is waiting for.

ps does your problem happens when you use the nwsp1 as client ? (eq when trying to transfer files from another nfs server to the nwsp1 ) Thats the situation in which my spd8020 has this problem

I found the problem :ugeek:
The good news: nfs-utils is working ok
The bad news, the problem is caused by the way the fvdw-sl firmware is implemented on the lacie devices to be able to use different partitions in the boot process. As nfs server is kernel process there is small point I overlooked in this setup. To solve I need to make a change in the source code of nfs-utils mountd daemon.
Coming week I will look at it but it will be solved

PS On the spd8020 the nfs server works without problems as the implementation of the firmware is different.
Only lacie devices are affected when used as nfs server, they work ok when used as nfs client and downloading from another nfs server.

if your are a little familiar with using putty or winscp (these are ssh client programs that run under windows and can be used to access the NAS outside the webinterface and modify the root file system)
if so then could try to install the patched file
Are you familiar with one of those ?

I am familiar with using ssh clients (I used to be a unix admin and I often work with linux in console mode).
I can try to install the patched file.
