Original hdd broken [Solved]

Original hdd broken [Solved]

First of all, thank you for this wonderful firmware!! :) I just managed to install fvdw on my network space vs1. The original hdd was broken, so I installed an old laptop hdd for testing purposes.

It took me a while to get fvdw installed, so I thought I'd share my experience. The instructions in howto (included in installation package) were quite easy to understand, but it looks like fdisk must be started with two extra parameters, at least in ubuntu 12.04 LTS. The command I used was:
Code: Select all
fdisk -c=dos -u=cylinders /dev/sdX

Without -c and -u my nwsp simply did not boot at all. In addition, you might want to use "sudo su" to gain root priviledges in terminal instead of typing "sudo" over and over again.

Last but not least... Every time that I tried to download all three parts of the installation package simultaneously, the package was somehow corrupted. It might be related to my computer [W7 & Chrome]. Or might not be. Anyway, the solution was to download rar files one at the time.

Hope these tips will help someone :)
