upgrade from 12.1 to 14.0 - failed

upgrade from 12.1 to 14.0 - failed

Postby cgarratt » Sun Apr 07, 2013 3:13 pm

I just completed the upgrade from 12.1 to 14.0 and it went pretty quick and no errors reported... however the system is very slow to respond and it still shows "fvdw-sl firmware version 12-1" in the top-left but System Management -> Information shows "nwsp1 fvdw-sl 14.0"

When using the left menu options, I get "Current System Status: execution command, please wait..." with no page displayed. Only System Management and Firmware Update actually show me a page.

I am going to install the update again and report back. Thanks for the work you do in keeping these devices running well!

The requested URL /system/system_upgrade1_lacie.php was not found on this server.

So it looks like I am stuck for now...

Hi cgarratt,

First, I recall you must close all windows of your browser after upgrading

Do you do this ?

Do you have still a SSH access ?

Haha, I feel silly - Yes, I was trying to multitask and failed. Was doing the upgrade in Firefox while doing other stuff in Safari. Closed Safari and came back and opened a new window in Firefox and logged in.

I appreciate the quick response. I will do some more testing and see how everything works. Thanks again!

As SPD8020, nwsp1's RAM is very small ! :pissed

It is why nwsp1 can only perform one per one the requests with the apache server .

So if the client sends several requests and if the first one runs a long time, the others seem hanging.

So all is well and the NAS is stable - been up and running without issue since the upgrade and currently transferring about 300+ GB of files to my external HDD without problem. (I initially switched to your firmware because of the NAS cutting out when moving large files)

I am not sure if anything can be done to improve transfer speeds - I am showing 6.32MB/s on a gigibit network with nothing else really going on. Going to take an estimated 15 hours to transfer 300+ GB.

Otherwise, a functional and stable system that keeps the hardware useful. Thanks for you work on this!

thanks for your feedback and glad to hear that it runs stable.

About transfer spreed I have a gigabit lan and reach speeds of about 20-25 MB/s see screen shot for big files. The nas is running several severs on the same time like twonky but no users downloading something

So something in yoiu network must limit the speed. 6-7 Mb/s is typically a value reached for Lan connection at 100 mbits/s

Thanks for the reference - I will check if there is some slow device(s) on my network bottle-necking things. I did notice a dip in transfer speeds whenever I loaded the admin page on the NAS though. And, I am running the miniDLNA server but nothing else. I have three PS3 systems that read the miniDLNA but none were actively playing any media during that time.

By the way, the 15 hour transfer completed without problem... so stability is definitely not a problem! Thanks again.
