I am afraid not...
I have tried to find the ip adddress with nmap, but I did not succeed. I will try it again with a separate switch, disconnected from the modem/ router.

The blue light flickers during boot up. Does that mean it received an ip address from the dhcp server?
Is there a default ip address programmed when it doesn't receive an ip address?
Does the sequence of the light flickering mean something? Errorcodes?

Are there any other options to get to the device besides portscanning?

if it flickers it means it is booting, it should flicker for at least a minute or so with some pauzes in between.

No there is no default ip addres set, if you had enabled dhcp (automatic) then the dhcp server would have given an ip. When it has been set to static well it should be available at that address, but important is that the PC and the NAs are in the same workgroup.

The blue light is definately not flickering for A minute or so. Maybe 10 seconds or even less...

So does that mean I better hook it up to my laptop using the sata2usb adapter and start from scratch?
i.e. Start with the first time install?

Thanks for your help!

yes, but you only have to write the disk image to sdb1, sdb2 and sdb7 and the kernel to sdb6.

The rest should be fine unless for whatever reason the nas database on sda5 is corrupt then you need to repair sb5 as well

Hi,

I spend a few hours on upgrading the NWS1, but did not succeed...

I wrote the 10-1 image back and updated to 14-0, but could not login on the web interface.
Wrote the nas database back, still wasn't able to log in.

Eventually wrote the 10-1 image and frimware back. That's running fine now.

I think I will keep it like that for a while now...

Thanks!

did you clear the caches of your browser after upgrading ?

That means fully close your browser and start it up again.
If you don't do that then parts of the old firmware web interface are still in cache and used by your browser. That could look like you can not connect and cause strange response. But the ssh access should work

and be sure the you used the upgrade file for the nwsp1
(and not nwsp2 or isp1)

Very strange more then 70 other user succeed why is it a problem in your case :scratch

and of course, you noticed that the administrator login changed since version 13.0 : you must use "admin-nas" instead of "admin" as login

I finally succeeded in installing the latest firmware.
I had to overcome the following hurdles:
- downloading with OSX/ Safari doesn't result in an image that can be uploaded to the NS1;
- Safari and FVDW don't work that good together;
- It was hard to "find" the NS1 in the network.

I have been using it for a couple of months now for downloading torrents and stream media with mini DLNA.
The NS1 has limited resources, so i would like to work on stripping down the configuration were possible.
I'll open a new topic for that.

Hi guys,

I've also have issues with update to 14 from 10-1, however, I get a different reason:

"Firmware upgrade step 2 started...
Firmware upgrade failed, upgrade process aborted, reason:
firmware upgrade function found that no partiton sda1 or sda2 is marked as bootable"

Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers.
