Kernel Version

Re: Kernel Version

I quickly looked in the kernel config menu

there are two FTDI drivers so to see that can be compiled

# CONFIG_USB_SERIAL_FTDI_SIO

and

# CONFIG_USB_FTDI_ELAN

Will these be the drivers you need ? (I think you will need the first one reading the info in the links you posted)

I compiled both for you

think you will need only ftdi_sio.ko, the ftdi-elan.ko is for certain pmcia devices (see internet)
please note that ftdi_sio.ko needs usbserial.ko to be loaded

let us know if it works ;)

Hi fvdw,

I'm very sorry...

I just discover your answer !! I don't understand why, but I didn't get any mail alerting me about your answer... For the first answers until 10 august, alerting was good.

Also, today I was googling trying some other ftdi drivers and on the x's page I was coming on your answer, I didn't connect on (plugout.net) since 10 august...

Well, I'm very happy and I can tell you that it's working fine !!

Thank you very much for your work, it was very reactive, even if I found that only today !!!

Hi,

I finally made everything what I want with this nas, but....
Now I have problem with memory...

I tried insmod'ing drivers only when I need, but it seems to be not enough...
I'm using a 2TB hdd
twonky 6.0.39
x10 HEYU with DOMUS upon usb CM11
teleinfo manual scripts check upon 2 usb sticks (this part has problems now, but without twonky, it's ok...)
one wire manual scripts ckeck upon pl2303 usb

I'm still with your 6.1 release, does the new ones use again less memory ?

Perhaps i'm at the end of this lacie :-(

What do you think ?

no the newer version don't use less memory, all the new features added only consume more.
And yes twonky is memory intensive certainly shortlty after booting when it find it necessary to scan all directories again
I am afraid you are at the end of the capacity of the nwsp1

If you want to have more performance and resources, you could consider a nwsp2 (hopefully the classic is still available which has 256 MB RAM, however the Lite version with 128 MB RAM is also already a big improvement compared with nwsp1

Many additional features are available with the last versions since the version 6.1 :-D

You could read the relevant release notes on the forum.

Like you, at the beginning I used a nwsp1 but since I have a nwsp2 I use only the nwsp1 to backup my nwsp2 !
